Situated on the same city block with Minneapolis Institute of Arts (Mia), MCAD has shared a long history with this beloved, encyclopedic museum dating back to 1915. All MCAD students are granted a free membership to Mia. Connected by an underground tunnel and part of the larger MCAD campus, students can take inspiration from the galleries and participate in classes within the exhibition hall.

Less than 1.5 miles from campus, the internationally acclaimed Walker Art Center, home to contemporary visual arts and design exhibitions; dance, 剧院, and music performances, and film screenings. MCAD students receive discounts and free admission on Thursday evenings. Walker Art Center is also committed to showing and supporting emerging designers and artists, many of them MCAD alumni.
